Employees of companies that provide services in the social sector must have a range of qualifications and skills to meet the special requirements and challenges of this work. These include:

Professional qualifications:

Training and studies:

Completed training or a degree in a relevant field, such as social work, social pedagogy, nursing or health management.

    Professional experience:

    Practical experience in social institutions, care facilities, youth welfare or other social services.

      Ability to put yourself in other people’s shoes and understand their needs and concerns.

        Communication skills:

        Communicate clearly and comprehensibly with clients, relatives and colleagues.

        Being able to listen and create an open and trusting atmosphere for discussion.

          Being able to deal patiently with difficult situations and behaviors.

          Be emotionally resilient and able to cope with stressful situations.

            Ability to work in a team:

            Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate across disciplines.

            Openness to feedback and a willingness to continuously improve.

              Organizational and planning skills:

              Plan and organize tasks and appointments efficiently.

              Flexibility and adaptability to changing requirements and priorities.

                Technical and methodological skills:

                Documentation and administration:

                Ability to document case files and reports accurately and in a legally compliant manner.

                Knowledge of the use of management software and databases.

                  Methodological competence:

                  Application of counseling methods, intervention strategies and therapeutic techniques, knowledge of crisis intervention and conflict resolution.

                    Legal and ethical knowledge:

                    Legislation:

                    Knowledge of the relevant laws and regulations in the social field, such as the German Social Security Code, Youth Protection Act and data protection regulations.

                      Ethical principles:

                      Understanding and adherence to ethical principles and standards in social work.

                      Respect for the dignity and rights of clients.

                        These qualifications and skills are essential to competently and professionally master the demanding tasks in the social sector and to ensure high-quality care and support.
